Canadian songstress Sarah McLachlan is splitting from her husband of 11 years.

The singer tells Billboard.com that she is separating from drummer Ashwin Sood, and that she documents their trials in songs that appear on an upcoming album. Her 14-song greatest hits disc, "Closer: The Best of Sarah McLachlan," features two new tracks, "U Want Me 2" and "Don't Give Up on Us". McLachlan and Sood have two daughters, six-year-old Ann Sushil and Taja Summer, 14 months.

McLachlan's new album comes out Oct. 7.
